Making of Væsen

As part of our bachelor exam we were all given the task to create a 'making of our bachelor film' and this video is the one i made - and now one year later you have the opportunity to have a look behind the scenes! of (almost) all the work that i did on the film. the music i put in the video are two lovely songs by Psapp: 'tricycle' and 'marshrat'.

To be honest, i actually think game of thrones is a bit boring.. (but that is not surprising) but i do like some of the characters. and i really like the details in the designs of the props and clothing and all that.

Hmm, i just realised i gave her the wrong eye colour. anyway, this is the vicious victor johanna mason from district 7 from the hunger games trilogy by suzanne collins. Johanna doesnt look very angry, hostile or sly in these drawings, haha, hmm.. but she is. but she's also very funny.

why nothing much happens here on the blog these days

Well, it is not the only reason. But, at the moment i am working on a little personal-project-film, doing the storyboard and animatic at the same time... based on a script i wrote, that isn't really a script.. hmm. but it's very interesting to try this way of working. anyway, here are some screenshots of the animatic that will not give away anything of the story :)

happy hunger games.

Normally i try to steer clear of those phenomenal hypes, but there's only so much one can do.. I blame it on the trailer.

I watched the trailer for The Hunger Games five months ago, and for some reason i kept remembering it (which is a little odd, since it doesnt appear to be a movie i would be interested in watching - action and violence is not really my thing). If i'd only seen the movie poster, i wouldn't have touched the film with a barge pole. After (finally) watching the movie 3 weeks ago, i've seen the trailer again, and i think it's actually really good - it doesnt reveal any secrets, and maybe that's one of the reasons why i could not forget it. i also really like the trailer score, even though it is sort of epic, and i'm not normally into epic film scores either. 

But i am so glad i watched it. and then i read the books (by suzanne collins), which i naturally like even more - I think they did a really good job making the book into a film, though, even though i think about none of the dialogues are similar to the ones in the book, and the ending is a little lame - or maybe just not as intense. 

Anyway, i wanted to say a lot about how amazing i think the books are, because they really made me think a lot, and i just stared into the wall for 4 hours after finishing the last one. And i'm still thinking.. But i don't know how to explain it without giving important points away, so instead here are two small fanart illustrations i did this evening:

These drawings are from last summer. They are part of a spare time project i was working on, but i think maybe the designs have changed slightly - i keep changing my mind. Anyway, it might be something like 30 years before it gets any further, so i thought it would probably do no harm to post some of it here now! so, here is a clothing session :)

I'm practising drawing heads. Plus i am trying to find a design that works better for animation, than what i've been drawing lately. i like drawing hair. Hair and patterns, they're my favourite parts!

SO - a new one. I kept forgetting about the sketch for this being from the sartorialist. I always seem to end up in the outline-or-no-outline dilemma these days, but i wanted to keep the outline this time no matter what the result would be.

i wanted to play around with some different styles, and here are three finished ones and the next one i am working on. I think i will try out more textures..
